Introduction

DogFenceGuide.com ("we," "our," or "us") helps homeowners plan, install, and troubleshoot underground dog fences. This policy describes, in plain terms, what information the site actually collects, who sees it, and how to ask us to delete it.

Dog Fence Guide is operated by THE DOG FENCE GUY! LLC, a Pennsylvania limited liability company publicly known as The Dog Fence Guy!. The company also operates DogFenceGear.com, owns DOG FENCE PRO, and provides Pennsylvania installation services at InvPetFencing.com.

The short version: we do not build profiles of your browsing. There are no user accounts, no login, and no advertising trackers. We receive the personal information you deliberately provide through our forms and the limited connection data needed to operate and protect the site. We disclose it only as described below, most importantly to the local installer who prepares a quote you request. We do not sell personal information to anyone.

Information You Give Us Through Forms

Quote Requests

When you request a professional installation quote from the fence planner, we collect what you enter: your name, phone number, email address, street address, city, state, and postal code; property details (home type, driveway type, obstacles, whether you own the property); details about each dog (name, breed, age, weight range); your drawn boundary (the map coordinates, perimeter, and area) and a link that reopens your boundary map; the estimate shown to you; your contact preferences; and any notes you add.

We send all of this, including the boundary map link, by email to the installer matched to your area so they can contact you about your quote. In Pennsylvania, the match is The Dog Fence Guy!, our parent company and installation business. Outside that territory, the match is an independent local installer, and your details are shared only with that installer. If no installer covers your area, the request goes to our own team. You also receive a confirmation email with a summary of your plan and the same boundary map link.

Contact Form

The contact form collects your name, email address, a topic, your message, and optionally your phone number and ZIP code. It is delivered to our inbox by email, and you get a short acknowledgement email in return.

Email My Plan

If you ask the fence planner to email your plan to you, we collect your email address and send you a message containing your plan link, boundary size, estimate, and dog count, plus the address label on your plan if you added one. A copy of that summary also goes to our inbox so we can follow up if you reply.

Newsletter and Checklist Signups

Signing up for our email tips or the installation checklist collects your email address and which page you signed up from. We use it to send you what you asked for. To unsubscribe, reply to any of our emails and ask; every one tells you so.

Installer and Dealer Applications

The become-a-dealer form collects your name, email address, phone number, desired territory, and a description of your experience. It is emailed to our inbox for review.

Technical Details in Form Notifications

The notification emails these forms send to our own inbox include the network (IP) address the submission came from and a timestamp. We keep that as a spam and abuse record. The email a matched installer receives about your quote does not include your IP address.

How We Use This Information

• To prepare your quote and connect you with an installer
• To answer your messages and send the emails you request
• To prevent spam, fraud, and abuse of our forms
• To improve the site using the anonymous, aggregate statistics described below

We do not sell personal information, share it with data brokers, or use it for third-party advertising.

Service Providers We Rely On

A small number of services process data on our behalf to make the site work:

• Resenddelivers every email described above (quote requests, confirmations, contact messages, plan emails, signups). Your form contents pass through Resend's systems the way any email passes through a mail provider.
• Cloudflare Turnstile protects the quote form from bots. The Turnstile widget loads from Cloudflare in your browser, and our server sends the resulting token, along with your IP address, to Cloudflare to confirm the check passed.
• Cloudflare also sits in front of the site as its network layer, so, like any site behind it, connection data such as your IP address passes through Cloudflare when you load pages.

Lookups the Fence Planner Makes for You

Some planner features work by asking outside services about your address or your drawn boundary. These lookups go through our server, so the services receive the query itself but not your name or your IP address:

• Address search:the address you type (or a map point you select) is sent to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim geocoding service to find matching locations. If Nominatim finds nothing, the same cleaned-up address is sent to the US Census Bureau's public geocoder as a backup.
• Address suggestions:if suggestions are enabled, the partial address you are typing is sent to Esri's geocoding service to offer completions as you type. Suggestions are shown once and discarded; picking one simply fills in the search box.
• Property boundary lookup: your address or selected map point is sent to publicly operated county and state government parcel (GIS) servers to fetch the recorded lot lines for that location.
• Elevation: the coordinates of your drawn boundary are sent to the Open Topo Data elevation service to estimate slope along your wire path.

Our server briefly caches address search, property boundary, and elevation results (roughly a day or less) so repeat lookups do not hit the services again. Address suggestions are the exception: they are never cached anywhere.

Map tiles are different:the map images themselves load in your browser directly from Esri (satellite view) and OpenStreetMap (street view). Like any image request, those tile servers see your IP address and which map areas you viewed. If you use the "locate me" button, your position comes from your browser's location permission and is used on the map; we do not store it.

Analytics: First-Party and Anonymous

We measure how the site is used with our own first-party system. There are no third-party analytics scripts, no advertising networks, no cross-site tracking, and no cookies involved.

• Events are anonymous counts of actions like "quote form opened" or "troubleshooter step," with no name, email, or address attached.
• Daily aggregate counts are kept for about 60 days, then pruned.
• Planner usage is grouped by a random session identifier that is hashed before storage and summarized; those summaries are kept for about 30 days.
• Rate-limit records used to block form abuse store only a hashed key, never a raw IP address, and expire on their own within minutes to an hour.

None of this data identifies you, and we could not reassemble it into a profile of you if we tried.

Cookies and On-Device Storage

We do not set tracking cookies. What the site does use is your browser's local and session storage, which stays on your device:

• Your light/dark theme preference is remembered locally.
• Fence planner drafts and designs are saved in your browser's local storage so your work survives a page reload. They are never sent to us unless you submit a form or create a share link.
• The planner remembers whether you have seen its welcome screen, and a temporary session flag prevents old service-worker cleanup from repeating. Neither contains contact information, and the session flag disappears when the browser session ends.

Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie, such ascf_clearance, if it presents a security challenge or if Turnstile's optional pre-clearance feature is enabled for the quote form. A security cookie is used only to confirm that a visitor passed the check; it is not used for advertising or cross-site analytics.

To clear this, use the planner's "Start Over" option or clear site data for dogfenceguide.com in your browser settings.

One note on share links: a planner share link encodes your drawn boundary in the link itself. Anyone you give the link to can open that design, so treat it like any other link to your property layout.

Data Retention

Form submissions live as ordinary emails in the recipients' mailboxes: ours, and, for quote requests, the matched installer's. They stay there until deleted, the same way any email does. Analytics aggregates and anti-abuse records expire on the schedules described above, and cached lookup results expire within about a day.

Your Rights

You can email us at any time to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. For quote and contact emails in mailboxes we control, we will delete them on request. If your quote was routed to an independent installer, we will pass your deletion request to them as well, though their mailbox is under their control.

We do not sell personal information or disclose it for cross-context behavioral advertising. In the terms used by the California Consumer Privacy Act, there is no sale or sharing for a Global Privacy Control signal to opt you out of. We also do not track visitors over time across third-party websites or allow advertising or analytics companies to do so through this site. Because the site does not engage in those activities, browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals do not change how it operates.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the rights above (access, correction, deletion, and objection) apply to you too; contact us and we will handle it.

Children's Privacy

Our site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has submitted information through one of our forms, contact us and we will delete it.

Outbound Links

Product links on this site go to DogFenceGear.com, a store operated by us, and carry a simple referral tag so that store can see the visit came from us. DOG FENCE PRO is our equipment brand. See our Ownership & Transparency page for how that relationship works. Links to The Dog Fence Guy! open InvPetFencing.com, which maintains its own privacy policy. If a page embeds a video, its preview image may load from YouTube; the privacy-enhanced player itself loads only after you press play. Independent external links, such as other installer websites and government dig-safety resources, take you to sites with privacy practices we do not control.

Data Security

Forms are submitted over encrypted connections, our anti-abuse records store hashed values rather than raw identifiers, and quote routing happens server-side so submissions cannot be redirected to an arbitrary address. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security, but we have tried to collect little and expose less.

Changes to This Policy

If our practices change, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Meaningful changes will be described here, not buried.
